For some parts of the parish glacial internet speeds are the biggest
bane of residents' lives, particularly for those running businesses.
Speeds of below 1- megabit are commonplace around the parish.
We are currently investigating how funds and expertise could be
secured to get superfast fibre broadband spread across the parish. A
pilot in The CamelValley is planned for 2018.
We are keen to gather data from other parts of the parish
experiencing poor broadband speeds. We are developing a map to
show which parts of the parish are served by which telephone
exchange. This might, in time, allow us to assist with the roll out of
high speed broadband across other ill-served parts of the parish.
One of the best broadband speed checkers can be found at
www.speedtest.net.uk (there are others if you prefer)
Once on this site it will ask you to Begin test you will need to record the speeds you typically receive at a) midday and b) at
7.00 p.m.
Please fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page with you results.
Poor broadband speeds are a national disgrace. Britain, boasting the
World's sixth largest economy, lies in 28th place in broadband
provision - so please take part in this embryonic attempt to do
something about the problem at a local level.
Thankyou for taking part in this survey, we will not pass on any imformation to third parties without your written permission.
